Claire English
Claire English is a rapidly rising star in UK fine jewellery, described by Stephen Webster as the next big thing.
Following a successful career as a fashion model, Claire attended Camberwell University of the Arts and Falmouth University of the Arts, where she graduated with a first class honours degree in silversmithing and jewellery design.
Claire combines her interest in curios, collage and fine craftsmanship with a witty, irreverent and playful design philosophy, gathering themes and stories to incorporate into her designs. Claire describes herself as a 21st Century Bricoleur dedicated to producing modern heirlooms.
Her whimsical ‘Anywhere Albion’ collection comprises a variety of pieces based around ‘found’ or overlooked objects. Conceived with a magpie’s obsession for collecting memories, often of childhood.
‘I’ve always been drawn to objects which are forgotten or discarded, particularly those associated with childhood games or rituals.’ Her pieces reflect that interest, combining a playful, English aesthetic with a bitter-sweet sense of nostalgia.
