Designer Jenny Manik Mercian studied a Fashion and Textile degree at the University of Technology Sydney. Soon after Mercian designed for various well-known Australian fashion houses, creating couture garments with a focus on intricate ornate fabric manipulation. She developed an interest in luxe jewellery as a result of her Sri Lankan heritage, which lead her to experiment with various materials, teaching herself to create and craft jewelled, metal jewellery and art.

Some of Mercian's work for the runway shows include elaborate crystal encrusted metal corsets and body armour, intricate jeweled angel wings and full length garments all crafted by hand using thousands of crystal, semi-precious stones and metals. Jenny Manik Mercian has collaborated with Swarovski, Atelier Swarovski, Jaeger London, MAC Cosmetics and her work has been worn by Mary J Blige, Fergie, Cheryl Cole, Heidi Klum, Leona Lewis, Debbie Harry and Kate Moss.

SAHANI pieces have been featured in Vogue and Harpers Bazaar and Jenny Manik Mercian was awarded ‘Catwalk Jewels of the Year’ at the UK Jewellery Awards 2011.
